Historial, Museum of the Great War, in Péronne

Discover the Great War and the Somme Battlefields through a unique collection showing the daily lives of soldiers.

Presentation

The Historial is a tri-lingual museum that explains the war, its origins and consequences by showing the parallel history of the main countries at war: Germany, France and Great Britain.
From Péronne, extending from the museum, the Remembrance Trail will take you to the main battlefields and memorials, which recall the huge participation of Great Britain and its Empire in the war.

 

 

Why is this site ideal for school groups?

  • The Historial is an excellent starting point for understanding and discovering the Great War and the Somme Battlefields.
  • The Educational department provides, upon request, educational worksheets for teachers to prepare their visit of the museum. A pre-visit is offered to teachers by appointment with the educational department.
  • Picnic areas are available at no extra charge for lunch (please book)

Historial Museum tariff: €4/student 6>18 years old ;  €4.50/students 19>25  ; free for accompanying adults (1 free per 10 students; €4.50 per additional accomanying adult) ; free for coach driver (+ free coffee)
Thiepval Museum tariff: €3/student 6>25 years old
Combined ticket: €5/student 6>18 years old ;  €6/student 19>25 
Minimum amount of participants in group: 1 coach (2 classes)
Duration of visit: 1hrs 30 to 2hrs

Guided tour of Remembrance Trail, duration 3 hours (1 guide per coach):
- In French: €80
- In English: €92

Catering services available on site (packed lunches available by reservation)
