Soyécourt, on the French Front
Soyécourt was captured by the Allies on the 4th September 1916. After an intense artillery bombardment, French troops made a rapid advance towards Deniécourt and, in one great push, captured the village, the German positions along the western edge of Soyécourt and Wallieux Copse.
Wailleux Copse, which is still heavily marked by war, now belongs to the Somme Departmental Council and has been developed into a memorial and interpretative park providing information about the battle that took place here.
