4th Army Headquarters
The Chateau of Querrieu, located on the Amiens-Albert road, was used by the 4th Army during the First World War. General Rawlinson, commander of the 4th Army, set up headquarters in the chateau in 1916 and it was here that the famous but fatal order of attack was given for 1 July 1916 by Commander-in-Chief of the British Armies Sir General Haig. On 10 August 1916, King George V, accompanied by his son the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VIII, visited the chateau to award medals to two French generals.
