Of the 72,000 missing men commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing, 12,000 were killed on the 1st July - the first day of the Battle of the Somme. David Harkness Blakey was one of these men, but his remains were found and identified in 2013 enabling him to be finally laid to rest, along with two unidentified comrades, on 8th October 2015.
