The Little Train of the Haute Somme is holding its traditional Pentecost Steam Train Festival in celebration of its 45th season on Sunday, 24th May 2015
From 9am, come and watch the steam trains being prepared and then enjoy aride through the Haute Somme countryside! Two freight trains including one composed of wagons used during the First World War will be circulating while volunteers from the APPEVA association will be on duty, providing steam train rides and fun activities throughout the day. Inside the Narrow-gauge Railway Museum, come and find a minature train set, activities for children with the Un Pied sur le Terrain Association, the Poppy Country Tourist Office, a photograph exhibition, artefacts that illustrate the history of the steam train in our region, and many other activities!
Entertainment will also be provided in the afternoon by "The Spirit of St. Louis" jazz band and children can also enjoy a miniature train which will take them on a 180 metre long circuit.
The first train departure will take place at 11am and depart every 45 minutes from 1:45 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. The hour-long train ride will take you through the fields and woods of the Somme to the Santerre Plateau.
The museum will be open from 10am, but visitors can watch the steam trains being prepared from 9am.
