Love in War Exhibition - Historial of Péronne

Love in War Exhibition - Historial of Péronne

Saturday 19 May 2018 - 00:00 to Sunday 9 December 2018 - 00:00

Through an approach that studies social history, the Historial places the human being at the heart of its new exhibition, whether soldier or woman, civilian or prisoner. The exhibition illustrates how couples responded to the separation caused by the departure of soldiers and the omnipresence of death. The main themes relate to letter writing to alleviate the loneliness, sexuality due to a lack of affection (expressed by gifts sent to the beloved, drawings and trench art), desire and prostitution, prisoners of war and civilians who remained in German occupied areas and were subjected to even greater solitude, the presence of Allied and colonial soldiers, the return home to married life and remembrance of a dead loved one.

Free admission.
