For ANZAC Day, the village of Villers-Bretonneux and the ABA Association is once more preparing activities and encounters to commemorate this important occasion.
 
21 – 25 April:  Flights over the 1914-1918 battlefields

  • Sunday 19th April, at 10.30am: 2nd ANZAC Day Race organised by the Courrir à Villers Association.
Starting from the Place du 14 Juillet for a 4km circuit through the centre of Villers-Bretonneux
Sign up for free between 9.30am and 10.10am
 
  • Tuesday 21st April, at 8pm: Screening of Gallipoli, the well known film by Petre Weir starring Mel Gibson.

  • Wednesday 22nd April, at 8.30pm: “Voices of Birralee” concert.

  • Friday 24th April, from 9am to 6pm: Photography Exhibition of the destrucution and reconstruction of Villers-Bretonneux. Documents and detailed model of the first tank battle.

Salles des Mariages of the town hall. Free admission.
 

  • Saturday 25th April at dawn: Dawn Service at the Australian National Memorial

2am: Memorial site opens to the public
2.30 to 4.30am: Shuttle buses leave from Saint Exupéry School and Place de la Gare
4.30am: pre-ceremony
5.30am: Dawn Service begins
8.45am: Ceremony at the Villers-Bretonneux War Memorial, Place de la Mairie
9.15am: Presentation of the Sadlier-Stokes scholarships followed by a concert by the Ensemble Musical de Corbie in the indoor market. Free admission
 

  • 7th ANZAC Day Cup

11.30am: The two teams lead the parade
12.15pm: Ceremony at the Timmerman Stadium. National hymns.
12.30pm: 7th edition of the ANZAC Day Cup FRANCE vs AUSTRALIA. Free admission
 

  • Sunday 26th April:

9am: 1st ANZAC Day All Terrain Bike Race. Two circuits of 15km or 45km. 5 Euros per person (under 12s go free)
Sign up for the race at the town hall from 8am
9am: Memorial to Memorial Walk: from the Australian National Memorial of Villers-Bretonneux to the Australian Corps Memorial at Le Hamel. Starting from the Place de la Mairie at 8am. Shuttle buses leaving at 8.30am.


The Val de Somme Tourist Office will be open opposite the Town Hall in Villers-Bretonneux.
