THANK YOU TO THE MESSENGERS OF PEACE

The Battle of the Somme, one of the most deadly of the whole war with well over a million casualties, began just over a hundred years ago on the 1st July.
To mark the centenary of this battle, more than 600 people paid tribute to the men who fought and died on the Somme by participating in an operation entitled Poems for Peace, launched by the Somme Departmental Council from 1st July to 18th November 2016.
Short messages themed on peace from all over the world were sent in and shared with us and we would like to offer all of the participants our warmest thanks!

You can read all of these messages and poems here below.

In celebration of its first anniversary, the Rose Somme 2016 is now in full bloom at the Elysée Palace.
