Our Partners for the Commemorations of the Centenary of the Battle of the Somme

Forever remembered by locals and visitors from the world over, written for evermore upon our landscapes, and engraved in the stone on graves and memorials, the First World War forms an exceptionally important chapter of our history in the Somme.
Between the 1 July and 18 November, the Somme witnessed soldiers from all over the world come to fight upon its soil. This battle is remembered as one of the most deadly international battles of the whole war.

Alongside various international, national and local authorities, the Somme Departmental Council is greatly involved in organising the commemorations of the centenary of the Battle of the Somme and is scheduling a whole programme of events throughout 1914 > 1918.

 The French Government has entrusted the organisation of the French commemorative programme of the Centenary of the First World War to the Mission du Centenaire of the First World War, which works closely with the Somme Departmental Council and other local authorities to organise events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.
