DAY 2 Morning : Breakfast 10.00 : A ride in the small Froissy-Dompierre Tourist Train (tourist steamtrain), which will take you along the canal, up the hill (across the woods and through a tunnel), then down to the marshes, conducted coach ride in the Upper Valley of the river Somme and over the eel-ponds. Panoramas on the river, old mansion-houses... 12.00 : Lunch in Albert : pack lunch (sandwich-chips-fruit-cake-1 drink) Afternoon : 1.30 : Somme 1916 Museum : a visit of the diorama about the Great War, in the shelters of Albert : underground galleries dug in the 16th century and turned into anti-aircraft shelters. 2.30 : Leave for the Newfoundland Memorial Park of Beaumont-Hamel, with its caribou overlooking the trenches. Then, the Ulster Tower, a memorial of an unusual type, and Thiepval, the major Brisith Memorial of the Battle of the Somme. 5.00 : End of our services |
