Brendan Cox : Mr - Wednesday 28 Jul 2010

Dear Monsieur Etienne DENYS,

on behalf of all serving and ex-serving members of the 51st Battalion in Australia, (now Far North Queensland Regiment) I would like to send you a couple of photos of current serving members in front of our new 'Villers-Bretonneux Mess Precinct' sign.

The Battle for Villers Bretonneux is always remembered by our soldiers and of course the Battle is honoured and emblazoned upon our colours to remind the current generation of soldier of the honour and sacrifice of our predecessors. Additionally, we recently opened a Battalion Memorial Walk which will dedicate a tree to significant events in the Battalion's history including its involvement in the Battle for Villers-Brettenoux 25/26April 1918.

In the coming years it is the intent of the Battalion to promote the attendance of the current generation of 51st Battalion soldier at ceremonies in Villers-Bretonneux commemorating the Battle. As an initial introduction and promotion of the Battalion, in France, I hope you enjoy the few attached pictures.

May I also commend the 51st Battalion website to you (see below). It would be great to get the link of your Museum placed on the Association website and with your permission I will approach the webmaster to do so.

I trust all is well in Villers-Bretonneux in 2010 and I look forward to re establish the strong bonds between the Battalion and the people of Villers-Bretonneux.

Warmest Regards,
Brendan Cox
