New Zealand memorial of Longueval

The New Zealand memorial of Longueval commemorates the New Zealand Division participation in the Great War and in particular in 1916 in the High Wood.

On 15 September 1916 the New Zealand Division, supported by tanks, surged out of its front lines between Longueval and the Bois des Fourcaux (known to the British army as High Wood). They reached their objective, Flers, the same day.

Caterpillar Valley Cemetery :

Containig the memorial to the missing of New Zealand in the Battle of the Somme in 1916. Consisting of 11 Portland stone panels, it bears the names of 1,205 New Zealand and Maori soldiers who have no name grave.
